An HVAC System is just as important as the quality of air that you breathe when you are outside. Now, knowing and doing the following steps to ensure that the quality of air that is going to your house or in your building is safe is essential. In this post, these are not only the steps that you can do to ensure that your HVAC is properly maintained but this is a good place for you to start. Keep in mind that all preventive measures are always less cheap than cure.

  1.   Air Vents

You need to watch air vents from time to time because it is one of the ways pollutants will enter your building or your house. To ensure a good IAQ or indoor air quality, ensure that there are no molds entering the air vents. There are a lot of ways that pollutants can get into your HVAC system, you just need to be careful and keep them in check.

  1.  Filters

This is one of the most important parts of your HVAC system. Hence, you need to replace them not just as needed but regularly. One way to check how often you need to change them is to see them in person. Then based on the things that are stuck in the filter, then you can decide how often you should replace them. In the event that you have furry pets then it would be best for you to change the filters once a month.

  1.  Furnace

The most important thing that you need to remember when you have one furnace or more is that you need to understand that it is about heat in there. So you need to turn off the furnace humidifier when it is already summer time. Then when it is during fall, you can turn it on but ensure that you will replace the filter as well.

  1. Debris

Now when your HVAC system has equipment outdoor then you need to be watchful for any type of debris. It could be twigs, leaves or any other things that usually fall on the heat pumps or any other outdoor equipment for your HVAC.

  1.  Air ducts

When it comes to air ducts you need to know that there is NADCA which is an association that is assigned to inspect your air ducts every two years. In case you have a hospital building, that would be once a year. Hence, when you find your air ducts you need to clean them you need not wait for the inspection once every two years.

Overall, when you are not always at home or in the building where you have installed HVAC system then the best way is to listen when there are complaints. Also, when there are complaints, you need to act on it. Otherwise, you might face legal actions for it. A simple and regular maintenance will prevent you from future costly equipment replacement. However, it is true that there are broken things that you can’t be fixed anymore but premature equipment replacement can be prevented with regular maintenance with your HVAC system.
